This past week was our spring break, so we were able to celebrate our anniversary a couple of days in advance since it was on a Sunday. We went down to Salt Lake and stayed in the Days Inn on thursday and left Saturday morning because we had to teach on Sunday.
The reason why we chose the Days Inn is because it isn't too expensive and we wanted to go to a place with a hot tub and pool. Unfortunately, they were closed for maintenance. We were a little bummed.
Thursday we went to the Draper Temple with my dad and step-mom. We did a session there and it was just great! Then they took us out to eat at Famous Dave's. I really do like their food. Here is a picture of the Draper Temple that I took. I don't have one with Niels and me on my camera. Linda (my step-mom) took some on her camera of us, but she still needs to email me those ones.
On friday, we went and visited with my grandma for about 3 hours. It was good to visit her. We had lunch with her and she was so happy. My grandpa died March 28th last year, so she is lonely when she eats. I still can't get her smile and excitement out of my head because of how much she enjoyed eating with someone. After that, we went to the Hogle Zoo. It was fun. My grandma only lives about 10 minutes away from it, so it worked out perfectly in our plans that day. We had so much fun there. We spent a lot of time looking at the elephants and the primates/gorillas. When we went and saw the elephants, the workers were feeding them and they were having the elephants do tricks. It was awesome. Here are some pictures from the zoo...

After the zoo, we took a tour at the Beehive House, went to the Church History Museum and then had dinner at Panda Express at the Gateway. We had to go back to the motel after that because our legs, feet, and hips were hurting from walking all day. But it was such a great day! We zonked out quite fast when we got to the motel.
Yesterday, since it was the day of our anniversary we did a couple of things. After church, we had some of our wedding cake, which was Chocolate cake with Raspberry filling. Then we watched our wedding video that my Uncle John made for us. It has the photo montage on it, along with us at the temple, the luncheon, and the reception. We are so grateful that he did that for us. That way, we can better remember that beautiful day.
Here is a picture of us after our first bite of the cake
In the evening, we went up to Preston to have homemade pizza with Niels' parents and his brother and his family. It was also good to spend some time with them. We love our family so much!
Niels and I are so excited for another great year of marriage and for being together for eternity:)
