Christmas and New Years Celebrations

Christmas and New Years were celebrated with both of our families. Niels and I went down to Salt Lake on Dec 21st since it was my dad's birthday and stayed there for a week. On the 22nd, we had two family Christmas parties, one with my family and one with his. So, in the early afternoon we went to mine and had lunch and then in the late afternoon we went to Tooele to one of his brother's houses for that party. They were both fun and it was good to be together.

For Christmas day, we were with my family since Niels' parent's are on their mission in Kirtland (it was their year this year). We picked up my grandma on Christmas Eve and she spent that night and Christmas night at my dad's place. It was a nice white Christmas, what I wanted, and was pretty laid back. We all got ready for the day, ate breakfast, cleaned up, and then went in to the family room to open presents. We were spoiled, as usual. Then we (Rick, Susan, Niels and I) went to see our brother Joe at his place and had Christmas with him. We were with him for about an hour and a half and then we went back home because we hadn't had lunch and we were all starving because we didn't have a big breakfast. It was just nice to be with family. Linda's parents came and visited us as well after going up to their place and finding out that they were on our side of town. It was just a nice calm day.

One of the days we took my ring to get cleaned so it could be nice and sparkly like it was new again. We went to visit my really good friend Anya and we (Anya, Niels, and I) went to Temple Square and saw the lights. It was nice to catch up with her and to be able to just talk. On our last night in Salt Lake, we all (Dad, Linda, Rick, Susan, Niels and I) went and saw Les Miserable. It was such a good movie! If you haven't seen it yet, take some kleenex because you will cry. If you don't cry, then there is something wrong with you.

On the 29th, we went to Preston to be with Niels' family. We had a great time with them as well. On New Years Eve we all went sledding at their family dry farm and it was so fun! The little nieces and nephews just loved it and so did us grown-ups. We Were out there for at least 2 hours. Then that night, a couple of the siblings were talking about putting the clocks two hours ahead so the kids didn't have to stay up until midnight. So, we had a celebration with them. Then, after they all were in bed, we played games until 1 in the morning (the real time). We were all tired and got very slap happy, but it was fun! Then on New Years day we finished up a quilt for Joelyn, who is almost done for her mission, our friends Kwin and Megan came and visited us, we played a couple of games, ate lunch, and then packed up, cleaned and came back home to Twin Falls.

As you can see, our week and a half vacation was eventful and fun. It was great to be with everyone, but it was nice to get back in to our bed. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years celebration!

P.S. We weren't able to finish our 12 dates of Christmas, maybe next Christmas time we'll be able to.
